Things You Learn

Today I learned so much! Did you know the tools that the dentist uses actually have special names? Yes, Mr. Shower, Mr. Tickly, and Mr. Vaccuum. What an education I got.

And did you know that if you don't put your hands on your belly button while they are cleaning your teeth it will fly away. I had no idea! And now you know too.

Easter Weekend

Friday night we picked up Becky at the airport! Arek went to Boston for a week long business trip so she came to visit.

Saturday morning we headed out to Eggstravaganza at The Wildlife Experience. Mia's absolute favorite activity was the bounce house.

Sitting on the Easter Bunny's lap and bowling came in close seconds.

There were lots of things to do there, but since we have a membership we didn't feel bad leaving to go to the Easter egg hunt at the park. We should have stayed. The hunt was packed with kids and lasted all of about 1 minute. And almost all of Mia's eggs were filled with gum. I'm just not giving gum to a two year old. Even an almost three year old. I've picked it out of hair and carpet too many times!

We got at least six compliments on the 20 year old Easter pail that Darlene made for Beth way back when.

On Easter morning the Easter Bunny brought some yummy carmel apples that looked like chicks for Becky and Mia, earrings for Becky and a book and stuffed poodle for Mia. Don't know how much longer the Easter Bunny will be able to get away with semi-healthy food. And I forgot to take a picture of the cute little apples before they were demolished.

Grandma made Mia's little Easter dress. She used to make Easter dresses for all the girls years ago.

After church this morning we headed out to brunch at this cute little place.

We went to Greg and Deirdre's for dinner where there was a real Easter egg hunt. She had to look for the eggs! And no gum! I know. I know. I shouldn't complain about free things!

We will all be sad to see Becky leave tomorrow, but we'll see her again in two weeks!

Home

Sunday we came home from our VERY LONG vacation. It was nice and warm in Colorado while we were gone. But we came home to this.

And the next day it looked like this.

Gotta love Spring!

We went to the library after ballet on Thursday. These two just can't get enough of each other.

Life is slowly getting back to normal!

BFF Darlene

Over the last year two of Darlene's friends have told me that she is their best friend. And I had to say, "Excuse me! I am the best friend." Truth be told, Dar and I have a special bond; but she is a special person and a lot of people consider her one of their best friends. So knowing I would probably not be out in the fall when she turns 50, I decided that the family could do something then, but I would throw a best friends party now. Of course now that I'm having a grandbaby in the fall I'll probably be there anyway!

I surprised her with lunch at Il Fornaio in Pasadena. Here we are arriving for the surprise. We were talking so much in the car we missed TWO freeway interchanges and ended up twenty minutes late. Everyone shouted, "Surprise!". Darlene yelled, "What for!!??"

Everyone brought a couple of items for a memory basket - things that reminded them of something they shared with Dar. Since she is CRAZY, the basket was full.

Everyone had to have a picture wearing the Best Friends robot bracelets.

We laughed for the entire three hours. My mouth actually hurt. We were a little loud and they came and shut the door. Luckily we had a private room.

Happy Birthday Darlene! From all your BFF's!

Becky and Arek

Last Saturday was the last full day of our vacation. Becky and Arek came up to Victorville to babysit Mia for me so I could throw a best friends birthday party for Dar (that will be another post!) Mia gets so excited to see them. Why wouldn't she when they give her undivided attention 24/7!!

They colored eggs with her, took her to the park and pretty much did whatever she wanted!

The next day was Becky and Arek's third anniversary as a couple so they went up to Big Bear for a hike. They found the tree they had carved their initials in last year.

And then Arek proposed!

While we weren't surprised because Arek had asked Dan for her hand the week before at her graduation party, we were delighted! They are meant for each other. Congratulations you two!

Vacation Day 15

Last Friday we headed up to Victorville to spend the last 3 days of our vacation. I took Mia to the local park.

Hi friends. I'm Mia. I tried to catch that bird and it flew up in the tree. You guys climb up there and get it like this (cups her hands together). Then you climb down and give it to me. Okay?

Let me sing you a song. Go get the bird in the tree and give it to meeeeee. See it's right up there.

That night we went to my niece Bailee's 18th birthday party. Here she is with her friend, Gavin.

Her are Bailee's two sisters, Avalon and Madyson.

Waiting for the Laundry

I am so behind! I left the power cord to my computer in one of the hotels we stayed at and I just couldn't figure some blogging things out on my iPad. So I have many posts to share.

Last Wednesday we were still in Solvang. We decided to go the laudromat. Something I haven't done in years. And while our clothes were washing we went to a cute little petting zoo.

The first thing we did was feed the Zedonkey.

She waited and waited for this turtle to "not be a rock".

The dog was very friendly, but the goat was afraid of her and climbed up on the table every time she came around.

More posts coming on Bailee's party, Dar's party, Becky and Arek and an interesting trip to the park!
