It's Official!

People deal with grief and loss differently. Anna sleeps. A lot. She fell asleep on the bus on the way home from the Registration Office and then she took a 3 1/2 hour nap. Three hours later she fell asleep for the night. We had to wake her up 12 hours later so we could eat breakfast and make it to the bus today. She fell asleep again on the bus, but woke up when we got to the Registration Office. After we were done there, she fell asleep on the bus again and slept through the entire notary procedure. And now she is asleep for an afternoon nap. She has hardly eaten or drunk anything (she threw up the formula she had first thing in the morning). We think she may be a little bit sick and a whole lot sad. But she has not cried a bit today. She whimpers when I try to set her down and so she stays in my arms. We have not even seen her walk yet. But today is better than yesterday and the next day will be even better!

At the Registration Office all the babies in the group were officially adopted!

Here is a picture of little Allison. She had surgery on her hip and wore a brace for a year. Her lower leg is deformed, but Shriner's Hospital will be making her a prosthesis so she can walk. She is a doll.

Larry, Anna, and Allison are all 20 months old. They seem to be having a harder time adjusting than the older or younger kids. They're aware something isn't right, but they don't have the emotional control or confidence to go with the flow. Poor babies. It will be exciting to see how they adapt through the next week and half.
