Spring Break Trip 2022

In April we went on a Spring Break fun trip followed by a homeschool learning trip.

We flew into Nashville and drove to Pigeon Forge where we met the neighbors.

Our first excursion was this National Park. Bucket list checked!

In downtown Pigeon Forge we went to Wonderworks where we spent hours. The kids all had a blast.

Indoor ropes course.

That night we went to a dinner theater to see The Hatfields and McCoys musical. The kids loved it.

The next day we went to Dollywood!

It was so nice to go to a theme park with no crowds!!

After three days we said goodbye to our friends and headed east through Virginia to Monticello.

On the grounds there were archeologists digging for artifacts.

We were very lucky that we came on a day when "Thomas Jefferson" was there. He stayed in character the whole time, answering everyone's questions about his life.

After that, it was on to D.C.

We visited the National Museum of the American Indian and saw much of what we studied represented there. The modern architecture of the building was spectacular.

Covid restrictions in D.C. There had been none in Tennessee.

Yep.

Apparently, the Lincoln Memorial is where D.C. people go for prom pictures.
They planned ahead to be able to form a rainbow.

The natural history museum animal exhibits were all new and fantastic!

Of course we had to see the Hope Diamond in the gem section.

This exhibit continually calculates the population of the world.

My favorite exhibit is the original Star Spangled Banner at the National Museum of American History.

The original ruby slippers.

First Ladies dresses from the Twenties.

Studying US History for two years gave us a real appreciation for George Washington.

This is as close as we could get to The White House.
I feel fortunate I was able to go inside in 2000 with Joey's class.

We had a great vacation combined with and educational trip!
